The Rising Son

"The Rising Son"
Acrylic and gouache on metal cabinet door.
(Photographer Peter)

I found some inspirational photos from the streets of New York; "Harlem on the Verge", by photographer Alice Attie. Here's some details for you;

 I call him the BlueKing tho, it is easier to remember, he is morphed with a lion;
"The symbolic meaning of lions, as one might imagine, primarily deals with strength.
The fact that it is a nocturnal creature means that the lion is a symbol of authority and command over subconscious thought (as night is an ancient symbol of the subconscious - or dream states).
It’s interesting that the lion is considered by many ancient cultures to be a solar animal symbol, however it is primarily a nocturnal creature, conducting its hunting activity mostly at night.
This serves as a symbolic message of balance and sound judgment. In that the lion shares the world of both night and day, the lion bears a message of prudence to us. In other words, the lion asks us to not overdo in certain areas of our lives. Rather, keep an even mind and an overall balance in our life activities. Other than a symbol for strength, other symbolic attributes of the lion include: Courage, Power, Royalty, Dignity, Authority, Dominion, Justice, Wisdom,Ferocity

Some pics for you to see some of the progress,
 he looked like a ghost in the beginning, and too big eyes, so I guess it ended well.

Gil Scott-Brixton Mural

@Duke Of Edinburgh Pub,
Brixton, South London.
Commission Mural with Zina, Masai and False

I guess I can explain the blue"fetish", it's just easier and cheaper to keep buying the same range of colours as I already have some left, than getting hold of totally new set of tones. I will mix it up later on when I can afford some. Anyways, please check out this pub in Brixton for some closer look, it's going to be up for a while!

Cosmic Egg @ Upfest

Eros (‘Love’) is the Universal Being, the creator of all individual expressions of life.

"The Cosmic Egg- Eros Phanes"
Med: Gouache on canvas
Size: 35,5 cm x 45cm
Exhibited @Upfest 2011 Bristol

Some research if you´re interested:
Eros shines as a great Light—the Light of the Universe. As such he was known as Phanes (‘Brilliant’), the golden-winged god of light. He was also known as Ericapaeus (‘Power’), Logos ('Word' or ‘Wisdom’) and Metis (‘Intelligence’). The Romans called him Cupid.
Eros was the name given by the Orphic and Greek philosophers to the ‘First-born’ (Protogonus)—the first complete manifestation of Divinity. He was described mythologically as the son of Nyx (‘Night’- also known as Aether, the Holy Spirit, the divine Potential—the still, silent potential of all movement, sound, law and creativity.) and Boreas (‘North Wind’), who themselves were derived from Aether (‘Spirit’) and Erebus (‘Darkness’). Eros was born from the Cosmic Egg laid by Nyx and fertilised by Boreas.
Although referred to as ‘He’, Eros/Phanes is both male and female.  As he burst asunder the Cosmic Egg, the two halves formed Heaven (Uranus) and Earth (Gaea/ Gaia). All the elements, gods, goddesses, nature, everything, was contained within and emerged from his being. More on: The Story of the Cosmic Egg.
